Srinagar, Feb 10 (KNO): Casual Labourers working in various government departments took to the heart of the city, Lal Chowk Srinagar, on Monday, demanding that their jobs be regularized and their salaries paid on time. The protesters tried to enter Press Enclave and were immediately detained by the police. Later, protesters also tried to gather near Abi Guzar Bund but were detained. According to the details gathered by the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the casual labourers raised slogans against prolonged job insecurity and inconsistent wage payments, accusing the government of neglecting their urgent concerns. Moreover, as protesters tried to enter Press Enclave Srinagar, police quickly intervened and detained them. Notably, an official said the detainees were released after some time. Meanwhile, the labourers have vowed to continue their protest until their demands for regularization and prompt salary disbursement are met—(KNO)
